I think my world is slowly crashing down around me.

So first I find out that turtles CANNOT in fact breathe through their butts. Then I find out that chickens do NOT in fact poop in their skins.

And tonight? Tonight I find out that I do NOT have a deviated septum, that my mother just told me that as a child! All these years, I have thought that I had a deviated septum — but noooooooooooooooo. My mother just TOLD me that because it was a “big word”.

So what have learned? I can’t trust email (turtle thing) I can’t trust brothers (the chicken thing — they told me that’s why you shouldn’t eat the skin off chickens!) and I now have to question everything I was told in my childhood because my mother just liked to tell me stuff.

Stunned, I tell you, stunned.

  1. My admittedly limited research shows that some turtles can, in fact, “breathe” through their rear ends.

    See, for example,

Regarding the chicken thing, sorry, can’t help you there. You’re just too gullible.

And who’s to say you don’t actually have a deviated septum? Did they actually run the tests? Maybe it’s true and nobody knew.

  2. yo what even is a deviated septum?????????????

  3. Question everything I say–Question it all!!! Truth will stand alone—–and will have a biblical backing. What was given as “total earthshaking scientific truths” 20 years ago no longer has stood the test of time.

And, by the way, it was merely waste excretions if memory serves correct—-think about “SWEAT” it still helps to detoxify the body and last time I checked it still seems to come out of the skin. Besides—Chicken skin is mainly comprised of fat—-and where do all the nasties end up—–Stored in the fat. Exactly why in certain parts of the country, County and State officials advise people (especially pregnant & children) not to eat certain fish even because of the accumulated poisons in the fatty deposits. Mercury being especially bad in those states where mining was prevalent in earlier years but now PCB’s have also become quite prevalent.

  4. Jon — HAH! Okay, that is exactly what my Mom said to me other day … I think trying to make up for her laughing hysterically when she told me I didn’t have one. πŸ˜‰ And I am very glad to knw that some turtles can do that. That makes me feel much better! I’m not sure why, but it does πŸ˜‰

Cora — ask your father πŸ˜‰

Horeb — that is very interesting about the chicken skins! so it’s….sort of true. πŸ˜‰
